Dresdner Kleinwort in Japan
Following Commerzbank’s acquisition of Dresdner Bank in January 2009, the new management carried out a review of Dresdner Bank’s global activities as part of the integration plan for both banks.
In Japan, Commerzbank decided its future focus would be corporate banking. As such, Dresdner Bank Tokyo branch was integrated into the Commerzbank branch effective 31st March 2009. It was further announced that Dresdner Kleinwort (Japan) Limited will be closed. The majority of the businesses that have been managed in Japan at Dresdner Kleinwort are in the process of being wound down. In two cases, Dresdner Kleinwort businesses will be transferred to other parts of the Commerzbank Group: the eFX business will transfer to Commerzbank Tokyo Branch; and the Equity Financing business will transfer to Dresdner Kleinwort Securities (Asia) Limited in Hong Kong.
